NGOs such as the UK No Ordinary Day play an important role in humanitarian support, especially to build trust for future cooperation. This organization, which has years of experience in the evacuation of wounded, hostages and prisoners from conflict areas, provides practical assistance to innocent civilians who have been injured in Israeli attacks on Hamas positions. No Ordinary Day not only helps these people concretely, but also uses this help as a means to promote international cooperation with NGOs.

"There were clear signs in July 2021 that the collapse was imminent. I was writing recommendations concerning a regional arms deal for the [U.S.] Senate Armed Services Committee, and noted in that report that the Taliban takeover was near. I was in constant communication with the republic government, and there was a sense that Biden would never abandon the republic. It became evident when the U.S. didn’t deliver the scheduled budget. There was a last-minute scramble, but by then it was too late."

Four British men freed by Taliban after being held in Afghanistan.Four British nationals who were held in Taliban custody in Afghanistan have been released and are to return to the UK on Tuesday. The Presidium Network, a British not-for-profit organisation that works in conflict zones and has assisted the men, named three of them as Kevin Cornwell, a charity medic; Miles Routledge and Ian Purchase. The other cannot be named for legal reasons.

Three British nationals are currently being held in custody by the Taliban in Afghanistan, a humanitarian organisation has told the BBC. One of those being held is thought to have built an online following by visiting dangerous places while the two others are understood to have been arrested during a raid on accommodation used by foreign aid workers. The UK Foreign Office has said it's "working hard" to get in touch with the three men.

Miles Routledge - a social media, self-described "danger tourist" - is among three Britons being held in Afghanistan. The trio, which include charity medic Kevin Cornwell and another unnamed UK national who manages a hotel in Kabul, were detained in January.
